Join the Vernal Pool Patrol Team to learn how to monitor and protect Michigan’s vernal pools!

These valuable ecosystems provide refuge for sensitive wildlife, like salamanders and fairy shrimp. In this two-day training, you will learn about vernal pool ecology, how to record data in Survey 123, gain hands on experience working with and identifying wildlife, and meet local organizations that you can volunteer with to monitor vernal pools around Midland, Isabella, and Clare counties.

The first day of training, April 13, 12-5 pm, will be held at the Chippewa Nature Center Visitor Center.

The second day of training, April 14, 1-3 pm, is optional and will be held at the Little Forks Conservancy’s Riverview Natural Area.

Please dress for the weather. Waterproof shoes are ideal. Snacks will be provided.
