At Home with Nature

Registration for 2020-21 opens Aug 17, 2020

At Home with Nature is a program designed to supplement science and history homeschool education through fun, interactive, hands-on activities. Each series consists of three programs, all held outdoors. Students ages 5-12 will be divided into groups based on their age. Each session is limited to 20 students, with students divided into two groups.

Each series is $20 per student and $18 for each additional sibling. (CNC members: $16 per student, $14.40 for each additional sibling.) 

Pre-registration is required at least one week before the start of the series. A complete health form must be on file (completed during registration), the family must answer COVID-19 exposure screening questions (upon arrival, before drop-off), and the student’s temperature will be taken before the student may join each class. Sessions will take place entirely outdoors and will be cancelled at CNC’s discretion if weather is severe. Masks must be worn by adults during drop off and pick up and will be worn by staff during that time and when distancing cannot be maintained during programs. Children must wear masks when distancing cannot be maintained. Groups will be kept to 12 children or fewer.

Series must be registered for as a package, and missed sessions cannot be made up or refunded. Individual sessions will be cancelled due to weather or program restrictions at CNC’s discretion. Sessions cancelled by CNC will be refunded.

Late Fall Series - Geography and Outdoor Skills
Oct 20 or 21 – Orienteering
Nov 3 or 4 – Geography or Mapping
Nov 17 or 18 – Geocaching

Early Spring Series - Friends and Foes in Nature
March 23 or 24 – Invasive Exotics
April 6 or 7 – Endangered Species
April 20 or 21 – Nature's Untouchables

Late Spring Series - Animal Movement
May 4 or 5 – Animal Locomotion
May 18 or 19 – Tracks and Animal Signs
June 1 or 2 – Migration

*Topics may shift within the series due to weather or other conditions.
