Calling All Nature Day Camp Volunteers!

Enthusiastic teens who enjoy working with young children in an outdoor setting can volunteer as Counselors-in-Training (CITs)! CITs must be between the ages of 13 and 17 and be available from 9 am-4 pm Monday-Friday (Leaders-in-Training participants will have the opportunity to volunteer after they complete their camp session). We ask that CITs commit to at least two weeks of volunteer work. Applications are due April 12, 2019. Learn more and apply

Recent Sightings

The Bald Eagle nest next to the Poseyville Road Bridge is now occupied! After watching both adults carry branches from the Ridge Area and Bicentennial Forest to build the nest since last December, we’ve noticed one sitting on the nest while the other rests on a nearby branch. They will continue adding sticks through the breeding season. Eagles lay 1-2 eggs and incubation begins after the first egg is laid. The female does most of the incubation over 35 days, though the male also has a brood patch and will take turns.

Remember to stay over 330 feet away from the nest from March to July, as per laws.
