Nature at Night | Fri & Sat, Oct 26 & 27 | 6-8:30 pm

Chippewa Nature Center will host Nature at Night, a free, family-friendly event, on Friday and Saturday, October 26 and 27 from 6-8:30 pm. Visitors will learn about nocturnal mammals and the night sky through games and hands-on activities.

In the Visitor Center, visit the Sky Lab to view constellations, watch a puppet show and look for nocturnal mammals in the Wildlife Viewing Area. Attendees can make a raccoon mask, create a name constellation, find ‘bats’ in a sensory bin and view trail camera photos taken at night. Kids will enjoy reading nocturnal-themed books in the reading nook. Other game and activities topics include the phases of the moon, skins and skulls, asteroids and craters and animal tracks.

Outside, visitors can listen to stories at the Wigwam, walk the jack o’ lantern-lit Arbury Trail (lined with pumpkins carved by Bullock Creek Middle School students) and participate in an obstacle course as a raccoon by crossing a “road” and facing other obstacles a raccoon would encounter while they are out at night. Track nocturnal mammals using photo-luminescent powder.  Learn more

Dress in layers as activities will be both indoors and out. Children are welcome to wear a nature-themed costume. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Nature at Night is generously sponsored by The Dow Chemical Company, Warner, AHP CPAs & Advisors, Blasy Electric, Davenport University and Rick Ford Sales.
