Join us for an introduction on the importance of fungi in ecosystems as we search for, collect and identify fungi. Learn about the characteristics of boletes, amanitas, bracket, puffballs, slime molds, jelly fungi, tooth fungi and gilled mushrooms, along with edibles and avoiding poisonous species. This a workshop ideal for beginners, but challenging enough for intermediate students.
Guest instructor Marilynn Smith earned her MS degree from the University of Iowa, has taught mycology at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey and at the University of Michigan Biological Station, and has done mycology research at the University of Vermont and several independent research projects.
